  • The Brooks Car Has Arrived

(November 20) Where do you park a car that is eight feet long, weighs 200 pounds and is made out of wood? In the lobby of your company office building of course – at least if your Brooks.

Check out the photo below and you can see what I’m talking about.

Yes, the "running superfans" shoe car has arrived at the Brooks corporate HQ in Bothell, Washington. The car was used as part of the “running superfans” ad campaign the company has been using in 2009.

I’ve written about the campaign before – the funny videos featuring Karl and Carl Underwood (played by comedians Jason and Randy Sklar) who are obsessed with all things running. They are so over-the-top that for a soap box derby, they build a car that resembles a running shoe – and being created in the likeness of the Brooks Adrenaline GTS 10 - they win the race of course. You can see the two ads below (and click on the pics if you want to make them larger)

Dave Larson, Brooks VP of Marketing tells the Biz Runner that they company reached out to a Hollywood prop company to have the shoe made. It’s made of wood and rubber and has a steel frame. He tells me they don’t have any current plans for it, but they might be loaning it to some of their retailers for display purposes. It might also become the grand prize of a Brooks contest.

Now having its 10th anniversary, the Brooks Adrenaline GTS is one of the best selling shoes of all time, so Larson says it was only natural to find a larger than life way to celebrate the shoe.
In the photo below – you can see the shoe - and the superfans - were used as part of the company’s sales meeting.

So if you see a giant shoe in your local running store, Shaquille O'Neal has not taken up running - its just the superfans shoe car.
If you haven't already watched the super fans videos - you can find them below.
